Yesterday was very windy but sunny. Since I try to get ten to 20 minutes of sun when possible, I found a spot on the deck that was not too windy in the afternoon. There I sat with my camera, catching sun rays and taking a few bird pictures.
A red-bellied woodpecker and a catbird posed for me in a tree.
I noticed movement to the left. It was a hummingbird but it flew off before I focused on it. For backyard birds, I use an old Nikon that has a nice zoom lens but it can be awkward to focus.
Fortunately the little hummer came back.

I was thrilled to see that Possum Linda. We have nothing like that animal in the UK, in fact we have few mammals and those we have tend to be very nocturnal.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I see a possum. It's such a nice animal.
ReplyDeleteLinda, your photos are great.
I am sending hugs and greetings from faraway Poland:)
Hello, Linda
ReplyDeleteI love all your post, the woodie, Catbird, the hummer and the geese. The possum is brave to be walking out in the yard in daylight. I have had them on the deck at night. Great shots! Thank you for linking up your post! Take care, happy Sunday! I wish you a great new week!
Dear Linda,
ReplyDeletewhat wonderful Nature surrounds you, looking so much like ours, but we haven't possums here, so I'm really fascinated at him, he's so nice!
Enjoy your Sunday and take care
Dany
We used to see 'possum a lot. Not any more. I actually like 'em (they eat cock roaches!!)

Fantastic captures. I like the little possum, he's cute!
ReplyDelete...quite a selection.
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot...those geese don't want to share their territory with Mr. Possum.
ReplyDeleteThe possum is a surprise.
ReplyDeleteYou got a great shot of the possum! I think they are cute but they frighten me a bit with their sharp claws. I've come home to find them on the porch.
ReplyDeleteWonderful birds and animals. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh wow wonderful shots of the possum Linda, they're kind of cute ☺️ your woodpecker too, super shots
ReplyDeleteAll amazing photographs.
ReplyDeleteHappy May Wishes.
All the best Jan
We see quite a lot of possums here in Oregon, supposedly brought here by pioneers who wanted to start them breeding here. I’m fairly sure nobody hunts them now (I hope not). You have a great backyard!
