It's been a while since I posted anything for Caturday, but Halloween is coming so a black cat seems appropriate. I used filters and layers in Photoshop to dress this up.
Next we see a picture of a deer along Skyline Drive. When you see one, slow down even if it isn't in the road. They usually travel with family members so another one may dart into your path.
Here's a less welcome sight: a spotted lanternfly. I saw this pest in Winchester at Glen Burnie. It was on a piece of sticky tape that was wrapped around a tree as a trap, probably to catch these invasive insects. They are newcomers to Virginia and have not shown up in my county yet, but Winchester is not that far away.
I did not identify the bird in the tree. All I could see was a silhouette.
Can you the bee on the wildflowers in the last image?
Lovely nature photos and beautiful art!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of photos and wildlife. The Box Turtles are neat to find, they are a little rare to see hear. Too many people pick them up and take them as pets. I always love seeing the deer. Cute kitty photo. Pretty capture of the bee on the flowers. Thank you for linking up your post. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great new week ahead. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
...I didn't see any turtles this year!
ReplyDeleteLindas fotografias, gostei de ver.

ReplyDeleteI liked your tip about how to get squirrels off the road!
ReplyDeleteWonderful critters.
ReplyDeleteOn the weekend I was walking down a street here, saw a squirrel dash out just as a truck was coming, and turned away, expecting it to be killed. I heard a bit of a pop. Instead it bolted right past me, and what the truck had hit was an acorn it had been carrying, totally destroyed.
Wonderful post. The turtle is so cute. I agree about watching out for other deer. - I've never seen that kind of a fly before. I've heard that it isn't good to use that sticky tape though as birds and other animals are getting stuck on it.
