They not only display pieces of top area artists, but they also display some impressive student art. "Open a Door to Rappahannock County" was painted by students at Belle Meade. It is made of doors painted with different murals and then hinged together.
This colorful mural by elementary school students was inspired by Chihuly's glass "Macchia", but this is made of ink-dyed coffee filters! It is called "We are each a work of art but together we make a masterpiece."
There were collages by students in the gifted and talented program at the elementary school.
There were paper quilt spirals and a large "Nautilus Shell Galaxy" from Wakefield Country Day School.
You found great art at that fall art tour. I loved the doors and to think that young children painted those doors is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI've never considered how much coffee filters resemble Chihuly flowers, but they DO. THIS is stunning.
The Fibonacci(golden ratio) spirals are out of this world. One of my favorite designs and so well painted, too.
They were all wonderful finds, Linda. I adored each of your photos you shared in this post.
Looks like there was some nice work there - I dont go to enough of these kinds of events - I need to do something about that!!

A lovely post of student colourful art plus your Autumnal photos. Each college or school has some dedicated art teachers and talented young artists.

Children are so creative and sensitive to color and form. I wonder why more adults aren't artists. What happens to us?

These are simply wonder-ful. I loved the children's art...it speaks to having good art programs in schools! And you didn't say anything about the lovely tie-dyed fabric hanging outside in the sun...another rainbow of color flying in the breeze. So glad you shared all of this with me.
ReplyDeleteThe fabric was hanging outside an artist's studio. I've seen similar displays at other artists' studios.
