Mostly I had cans of dog food. When Flash's health was declining, his appetite got less and less so I bought different brands and flavors hoping that he would like something enough to eat more. It turned out he only liked refrigerated food and human food so I wound up with a shelf full of extra cans.
The shelter is neat and well-kept. We walked through and looked at the animals, although I am not ready to adopt another pet yet. They had just held a "Clear the Shelter" event so the shelter was not crowded.
"Spay and neuter" is good advice. I don't need to tell you that there is a surplus of unwanted pets.
Lovely cat .
ReplyDeleteThose poor critters in cages! Hope they get adopted soon.
ReplyDeleteYour kind donations of food must have been very welcomed. And yes I hope those dear animals all get adopted very soon.
ReplyDeleteHello, I am sure the donations are appreciated. Cute kitties and dog. I hope they all find loving homes. Thanks for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy your day and new week ahead.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a couple of dogs in the past from the SPCA. One was a darling and the other was very difficult but we took her on knowing her past history of bad treatment. She eventually was OK with us but I did not trust her with strangers, not easy. Sure the donations are more than appreciated and I know how you feel about taking on another dog so soon after. We have had none since we left South Africa and I feel sad not having an animals around, but we want to travel so it is not fair.
ReplyDeleteTake care Diane
it must have felt good to be able to donate to the shelter. i find them very difficult to visit, it always breaks my heart!!!
ReplyDeletethe puppy is adorable!!!
I cannot go to the shelters because I cannot stand to go away thinking of those poor fellow beings bering in "jail"....
ReplyDeleteAt one time we had 6 cats in our home all inside kitties.
How generous of you to donate your unused pet food to animals in need. I'm sure it was hard to look at those shelter animals and not want to adopt them all (I know I would end up bringing a furry friend home!)
ReplyDeleteIt was a good idea of you to do that.
ReplyDeleteThese shelters need all the help they can get. We have a charity shop that all their funds go to a nearby shelter for animals. I'm sure they appreciated your donation very much.
ReplyDeleteShelters are hard places to visit. Poor critters look so sad, and I want to take them all home. All of our pets are rescues and we don't need another right now, but I know if we visited our local shelter we'd come home with a dog or cat. You were brave to go there! and kind to think of them.
ReplyDeleteDonating the food and supplies must have been such a bittersweet thing to do -- but so wonderful and needed. I am glad the shelter is well run .. that is great to know.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear that you donated.
ReplyDeleteYour donations must have been appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Sweet furry faces. I hope they find a home. That was kind and generous of you to donate your unused pet supplies.
ReplyDeleteI always feel sorry for animals in cages :( But in this case I am sure they are well kept.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a good heart. It's a big help in pets community. In animal shelter near me there's also lots of donating goods, and group of veterinarian volunteer for the welfare of the pets.
