It looks like a green heron has taken up residence by our neighborhood lake. I never saw him before this summer but I've seen him a number of times already this month.
These two photos are from this afternoon. As soon as I stopped the car and took the first picture, he rose up and flew away. Fortunately I was able to follow him through the viewfinder and get a picture of him flying. Impressive wingspan, isn't it?

I was wondering what a 'radio' deer was. Pretty thing, isn't it?!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is always a treasure to view! I love coming here. Thanks so much for stopping by I'd Rather B Birdin' and linking in for us to come visit with you!!! You managed to get the heron in take off....that's something that is difficult to achieve [for me anyway]
Hello, I love the green heron. One of my favorite herons. I have seen deer wearing those collars. Great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the new week ahead.
ReplyDelete...radio deer, I have was wondering about that!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty heron! Interesting to see a deer wearing a collar. Great shots of both.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots! I like them all. I don't think I've ever seen a green heron.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Linda, how lovely you have a new visitor and sweet shots of the deer. So good to hear there are those who are looking out for them.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see a deer with a radio collar. Not something I have seen around here!
ReplyDeleteI did not know about that disease and I'm glad to know scientists are working on it. The "necklace" is quite different to see. I love green herons!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a green heron in these parts. I don't know if we're too far north of their summer range, but the blue herons are around.
ReplyDeleteThe radio deer is an interesting picture. I am involved in a group that puts (much smaller!) tracking devices on migrating birds.

Hello Linda!:) Lovely captures of the Green Heron and deer. Yes, the heron does have an impressive wing span, and I love their colour. Good to know the deer are being looked after, and I think the deer looks quite smart with it's blue collar.:)
ReplyDeleteLovely photo's here, and so nice to see the deer.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
These are lovely creatures and your photos are great!
