I've found Mice Cubes to be effective at catching mice. For some reason mice enter into them even when they skillfully avoid the snap-type traps. Best of all, these are safe to use around pets!
Although they are advertised as humane, they aren't necessarily more humane than instant-kill traps. All too often they catch the mouse in the middle of the night and he suffers in fear until he's released the next day. Or, if we are still awake, we take him out in the cold dark night, drive to a spot where he won't find his way back to the house, and dump him out where he'll probably freeze to death if a predator doesn't seize him first.
This mouse was lucky. He was caught during the day and I heard him trying to open the box. I took him outdoors promptly and released him some distance from the house. The weather was decent. He has a chance to survive.

I won't tell you what happened to of the mice which were found where I used to work. I've used both types of trap but am never sure if the humane one works in that I'm sure the mouse find it's way back
ReplyDeleteWarm weather will take them away from our home.Hard to have spring traps with children crawling.This house is fairly tight, the old one had a stone foundation so was impossible to keep all out.

ReplyDeleteIt does seem more humane. We don't have problems with mice- but the presence of a couple of cats in the building seems to be enough of a deterrent.

I have not heard of such traps. I guess it is better than the traditional ones!
