The Good: Fresh apples and pumpkins! The hills of Virginia are known for these crops. Here you can pick your own or buy them from the farm market. The scenery is pretty, and the just-arrived colors of autumn added brightness.
The combined image is for Mosaic Monday. (Click on it to see it larger.)
The Random: Murals are not very common near our town so I was pleased to find this one painted on a wall in the market's restroom. It shows an apple tree and birds, appropriate subjects for an apple orchard. (Sharing with Monday Murals.)
Another random shot is this gray barn which I'm sharing with The Barn Collective.
The Fun: Although I'm too jaded to get a thrill out of hunting down the perfect pumpkin, I enjoyed watching these fellows unload pumpkins from a big carton. At first I felt a little suspense because I wasn't sure the younger man would catch all the pumpkins, but he didn't have a problem, even though they were coming pretty fast.
After looking at these lovely photos, I am ready to look for a pumpkin patch.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda for sharing these colors of fall. The pumpkin toss, I wonder if they work their way up to the large ones. Enjoy the fall season and come back again. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin patch looks like a fun place to visit. And I love apples. Great series of photos. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI bet they have had lots of practice.
ReplyDeleteYup. It's apple pickin' time all over. Nice view of the tree and all the yellow drops.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they're tossing them, though they're not too big. Apples!
ReplyDeleteThe orchard looks well cared for.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your thoughts on the challenge. I also find it hard sometimes to figure out what to post.
ReplyDeleteMy kitty is doing better but still has a way to go.
I love the pumpkins and the apples ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought those pumpkins would be tossed around!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed all the photos! I used to work at an apple orchard.
ReplyDeleteLovely gray barn for the collective!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed these photos. I think I'd be waiting for the pumpkin catcher to drop one too. :)
ReplyDeleteNeat mosaics of your visit to the farm. Loved the apples and pumpkins - they are such a great part of fall. Now pumpkin tossing looks like fun but I'd be afraid I would drop them.
