150th Anniversary of the Battle of Cedar Creek
"Living History" demonstrations are part of the show and I enjoy seeing 19th-century costumes. This woman was kind enough to pose for me.
The mock battle took place on the historic Heater Farm near Belle Grove.

I enjoy the incongruities in pictures like the one below. It's a fun time-warp effect.
that first woman is so cute! great fence contributions, too!
ReplyDeletethat looks like an great event to be at and good fences.
ReplyDeleteit looks like it was quite a big event!
ReplyDeleteWow this is great. It'd be great to experience To wear those costumes from history.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing reenactments of history. Your last photo of the people in historical costume made me laugh - one lady has a modern camera around her neck.
ReplyDeleteThe reenactment is a cool thing to watch.. They have the same thing at Gettysburg. I love the costumes and the first shot of the lady.. reat post and photos! Enjoy your evening and the weekend ahead!
ReplyDeleteLove the first picture. I enjoy seeing the 19th century costumes.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy enactments around here in Hanover county Va.
Have you been to any here? Cold harbor where I was born is so enteresting to see and hear about.
I've always wanted to see a Civil War reenactment. One of these days ...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind seeing re-enactments. Some of them do battle re-enactments up here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat event. I think things like this really bring history to life.

ReplyDeleteI don't care so much about the war reenactment part, but I do love the living history!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun.... I have been wanting to go to a reenactment, but so far haven't been to one. It seems I am always a day late and a dollar short.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a fun and interesting day. Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou included some great fences in the backgrounds. My husband was considering joining a reenactment group, but then decided he barely had time to think about it, let alone do it. We view a lot of historical documentaries or films based on history. I never trust that the films got it right, so I always research it later. Of course I've discovered that different authors have different takes on history, so what is "historically accurate" is difficult to determine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my fence last week, even though I didn't post my URL on the "Good Fences" site.
