Mary's Rock, 2004

Meadow Spring Parking Lot, September 2004

Yesterday I posted photographs that my parents took in August 1941 on the summit of Mary's Rock in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Today I was organizing some photo CD's and I happened across one that contained my 2004 pictures from our hike to Mary's Rock. This was the expedition that my sister and I organized in order to scatter our parents' ashes as my mother had requested.

We took the shorter route to Mary's Rock, which is about 2.8 miles round-trip from Meadow Spring Parking Area on Skyline Drive. It's a fairly steep hike but the trail is well-marked.

  5. This post (and the previous one) is very poignant. It was good of you to fulfill your mother's wish. It's obvious Mary's Rock was a special place to your mother.

  9. Eileen, it is in Shenandoah Natl Park. You can even hike there from the parking lot on US 211 at Panorama if you are up for the climb.
