Evening Light and Light Wires

Skywatch Front Royal, VA

Sometimes I stop to grab a photo of the sunset and I just can't get a shot without power lines cutting across the sky. Why don't they put those things underground? I realize that utilities couldn't care less about photographers, but underground lines wouldn't come down in ice storms and thunderstorms. They also would not be so vulnerable to acts of terrorism or squirrels!

  2. Yes, William. Much as I admire squirrels, they are a significant cause of of power outages. See this for "shocking" details: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/01/opinion/sunday/squirrel-power.html

  3. I never imagined that squirrels can shorten the electricity supply.
For good photography wires completely immiscible.
    Have a nice weekend

  9. I understand we can't retrofit everywhere, but all FUTURE power lines and various cables SHOULD be underground. In my humble, don't raise my rates because of it, opinion.

  10. I have asked that question a thousand times! Maybe because people would go digging and electrocute themselves? Anyway, the photo is still pretty.
