Winchester, VA
Fort Collier was built around the Stine family's home which had stood there for many years. However, the house was destroyed during the battle at Fort Collier in September of 1864. It was rebuilt after the Civil War. The people of Winchester suffered during the war, as skirmishes and battles raged through the town. It is said to have changed hands as many as 72 times!
