The Overton Hillsman House
By the time our group stopped at Sailors Creek Battlefield, the rain had stopped. A state park employee was at this historic house and gave us a brief tour.
The house was built in the early 1700's by Moses Overton . During the 1865 battle here, the occupants (members of the Hillsman family and their servants) took shelter in the basement. The house became a field hospital.
