I volunteered to help at Park Day at New Market Battlefield. We raked gravel and worked on building a split-rail fence. Men (and Boy Scouts) laid the cedar rails in a zig-zag pattern, row upon row. Then shorter posts are pounded in on each side. |
It was interesting to see the fence go up. The photos show the rows of rails before the upright posts are added.
