Harrisonburg, VA
You can see the dome and minaret from I-81. This is the view from Country Club Road. I did not see a sign or get a better angle because there is a No Trespassing sign as this is a construction site.
I assume this is the Islamic Center and it is being remodeled.
Harrisonburg has a large immigrant population considering that it is in the rural Shenandoah Valley. In the city's public schools, students speak 55 languages in addition to English, with Spanish, Arabic, and Kurdish being the most common languages spoken. There is also a large Mennonite population.
Great looking building.

...not a welcomed building in many communities.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear of all the different languages the children speak. Lovely Mosque.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool. Tulsa has a mosque and minaret but the dome and minaret seem more symbolic than functional.
ReplyDeleteIt does stand out. The nearest mosque to my place lies west of the downtown core.
