"This Eighteenth Century Mill was operated by George Neavil. It was still in use in 1932, and was restored in 1962 by the Warrenton Antiquarian Society as a memorial to the early settlers of Fauquier County."
I came across this place by accident last year. I took a back road because
Interstate 66 was blocked by a traffic incident. This is somewhere near
Catlett, VA. It is said to have been built in 1769.
The View from Squirrel Ridge features thousands of views of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding area. I post frequently so please visit often.

...you often can find wonderful things be accident and this is a great example. Stay off the Interstates and travel the backroads!

ReplyDeleteThe difference between travelling TO a place, and using the quickest roads, and Travelling as a way of being in the now and just finding what's along the way...as Tom said, seeing the things that are out there just waiting to be discovered! I think of all the food that our ancestors had ground in a mill much like this...or if it was a lumber mill, all the board feet which built the towns. In 1769 I still had many ancestors in VA.
