Near Madison, Virginia
There is a bulletin board on the side of the building explaining that the post office was located 150 yards away on the other side of the road before the devastating flood. It dated to 1905 or perhaps a few years before.

Next to the post office is a small memorial to the Civil War soldiers from this town. I noticed that it cast a long shadow.
For those who may be searching for family history, here are surnames from the plaque:
Banks, Berrey, Cole, Collins, Conway, Eddins, Estes, Goodall, Graves, Hawkins, Jasper, Jenkins, Kinsey, Kirtley, Kite, Lillard, May, Melton, Nicholson, Rose, Utz, and Wallace.
It is a cute post office. Well preserved. Have a great day.
