We spent the day in Winchester but not doing a fun thing. Frank had his Achilles tendon repaired. The surgeon was the same one who did my foot surgery in 2016, Dr. Vincent.
It went well but it took a long time, especially including recovery time. I got tired of sitting in the stuffy waiting room and wandered around taking pictures. There are places were that's not allowed, of course, due to privacy concerns. So these scenes are in public areas, without people.

He apparently injured the tendon years ago but did not realize it was serious until recently when the pain became excruciating after he stumbled on the steps. The tendon was barely attached by that time so surgery was needed.
Recovery will take a while. He cannot put any weight on that foot for at least six weeks! We've rented and borrowed a carload of equipment to make this possible, plus I had a few items from when I had surgery. There was a waiting list for wheelchairs at the medical supply store, but fortunately a local foundation had one we could borrow.
We did some practicing this week on doing things on one foot. Still, this is going to be hard on both of us, and highly frustrating for him because he is accustomed to be able to do almost everything for himself.
Linda - so sorry to hear about this. Six weeks must sound like an eternity when you're used to being independent (both of you). I hope it passes quickly and smoothly. I really appreciate you taking the time to link to Mosaic Monday, under the circumstances!
ReplyDelete...the mill looks familiar!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear your loved one is laid up for a bit. Time for his sedentary pursuits to take his interests! Hope you don't over-do helping him! May you both weather this storm and enjoy whatever blessings you can find in it. Mobility on the other side, for one!
ReplyDeleteHello, Sending well wishes for Frank. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Enjoy your day and week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI have a Frank in my life as well. Praying he has an easy recovery and isn't in too much pain. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the recovery is smoothly.
ReplyDeletehope Frank heals quickly
ReplyDeleteWishing recovery goes well and wincing in empathy for both of you. (Bill broke several bones in his foot years ago and since then has suffered a few severe bouts of gout, such that we had to drag out the crutches etc leftover from the surgery aftermath.... so yeah, I know what you’re going through ....(and like Frank he is someone who can usually do anything and everything).
ReplyDeleteOh wow, so sorry for your husband. And yes this will be hard on both of you.
ReplyDeleteSome medical facilities are pretty maniacal about photos. I took a photo of a defunct Art Deco clinic on a hospital’s properties and a couple of security guards hassled me about it and ordered me off the property. They told me that HIPAA actually made photographs of any kind on hospital grounds illegal.
Anyway, you guys are on the family prayer list now.
Wishing Frank a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
They hyacinths look pretty. I hope Frank heals quickly for his sake and for yours.
