Chester Gap is a wind gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the border of Warren County and Rappahannock County. It is also the name of a community situated on the mountain side.
Here we see the Fire Station and the Baptist Church.

These deer are obeying the sign and not blocking the service road that leads to Snead Farm.
A short distance south of there I saw a lot of felled trees. They broke off from ice and wind this winter. Hundreds of trees and branches fell on Skyline Drive, resulting in sections of the road being closed for several months.
Now the Drive is open and you can enjoy the beautiful views.
That last view is stunning.

I love seeing views before al the foliage is out, blocking some of them. You are so lucky to see deer and photograph them.
ReplyDeleteI've never traveled south but spent a lot of time vacationing in the northern woods of New England. That area reminds me of what I see up north. Nice setting for a hike!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful view in the final photo.

A nice hike on a closed road, maybe have sked the deer what was up ahead
ReplyDeleteThe fire station and church look neat and tidy. Those deer are smart--I didn't know they could read!
