Church, Barns, Fences, Shadows

Near Stephens City, Virginia.

Linkups: Shadow Shot, InSpired Sunday, Barns, and Fences.
This is Friendship Chapel and it dates to about 1830.  It sits on the corner of Double Church Road and Grim Road, not far from another charming church

This is in a rural area that appears threatened by spreading housing developments, but for now there are still some country homes and farms.

  1. ...this simple white country church is a beauty. With its long history let's hope that it's not the victim of development. Oh boy, that first barn just needs one strong wind to bring if down. Just a dusting of snow sure would set those two red barns off. Linda, thanks for stopping by, enjoy your week.

  4. It would be a shame if all of this rural area was lost to housing problems.

  5. I love the low sunlight highlighting the sides of buildings, giving great details.

  8. Nice rural photos. The subdivision I live in now, used to be a farm. I used to drive by it on the way to Home Depot and admired its old farmhouse and barn. All that is gone, and we now live in a house that was part of the property.

  9. Lovely old church. We have the same with rural areas being used for houseing

  10. Hopefully rural areas can remain as such.

  11. The church and barns are great, lovely to visit the country. As usual, I am most intrigued by the one that is falling apart. Maybe it is my age that I feel such an affinity for things that are slowly going to ruin.

  12. I think a little TLC is needed by at least one of those buildings.
But it's tumble down state does make a very nice picture.
