On Queen Street in Strasburg, VA.
This historic house needs work. The log wall on one side desperately needs repair. I assume this will be costly because the house is for sale "as is" at a low price.
I've seen the interior and it's impressive. Most rooms look historic; some have log walls!

"The back wing of this log house was built in 1757 by Johann Sonner. Shenandoah County's first census lists three souls and a dwelling here. His son John, who was "Judge of the High Court of Appeals", build a two-story log house beside it in 1820 and the two buildings were joined n 1834. Part of the building, now a dining room once served as a turnpike toll booth. Restoration began in 1980 when weatherboarding was placed to protect the original log structure."
Hello, I hope someone comes along and finishes the renovation. It looks like a beautiful building. Have a great day! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
ReplyDelete...hopefully someone will come along and save this treasure. Things date way back in your neck of the woods. Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeletehard to imagine it is left out in the cold
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if someone who can afford to do the restoration buys this piece of history.
ReplyDeleteWith that history, it's worth restoring.
ReplyDeleteI do hope this can be restored ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I am always hoping that buildings like this get restored but I know that it takes a lot of money to do it.
ReplyDeleteYou may know this, but if not, you’ll be happy to hear that the Sonner House has been bought and lovingly restored as of this spring, 2019! My parents were up for the task and they’ve done a beautiful job. There is an open house on September 6th, 2019 from 12pm-6pm!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they fixed it. Thanks for letting me know.
