The fences around the church were decorated with brightly painted foxes. It turns out that April 1 was the first day of an auction of these decorated pieces. It's a fundraiser conducted by the local garden club.

Middleburg is in "hunt country" where the wealthy still hunt foxes from horseback.
DeleteYes, foxes are iconic in Middleburg. There is an annual parade of horses and hounds going down the main street in December. Polo is big in that area also. Great pictures Linda :)
