The Shenandoah Valley is directly under major flight paths. If you've ever flown west out of Dulles International Airport, you probably saw the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains below you.so it isn’t surprising that we see numerous contrails (jet trails) on days when the temperature is right for streams of mist to form.

Criss-Cross Contrails
There is widespread misunderstanding about this phenomenon. They are not an attempt to change the weather, but they are not entirely innocent either because they can trap heat, contributing to climate change.
Photographically, they can be interesting. I took these pictures from several locations in Woodstock on Sunday.

Great shots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
ReplyDeletePretty skies, great photos! Take care, Happy Friday! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think they are used to send intricate coded messages to aliens who are lurking close by waiting for their chance to come and change our DNA through vaccines. Just ask RFK, Jr.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteI have heard various things about contrails in the past as well. I do not buy into them, I think they are just what they are: contrails.
ReplyDelete...busy flyway!
ReplyDeleteMan made without thought, and certainly not nefarious intent. Pretty designs in the sky.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog
ReplyDeleteA photographer friend of mine thinks they ruin the beauty of the sky. I find them interesting. Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeletenice patterns in the sky
ReplyDeleteContrails are beautiful in their own right. The first image is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love contrails. We get them on cold clear winter days and evenings. In Oklahoma they are oriented more east and west than north south.
ReplyDeleteI followed a lady on instagram who gradually became a chemtrails conspiracy person. It was fascinating to watch her get more and more radical until I had enough. It was like watching somebody get mental illness in a matter of six months. I thought it was sad.
But hey, have a great Thanksgiving.
