I Don’t Know What to Say.

Once again, current events have left me almost speechless. What is wrong with people? Have we not evolved out of savagery? How we gone backwards?

I’m going to let a Stephen King meme speak here. Then I’m going to change the subject and go to a place that I find peaceful.

I’m not sure why I love Skyline Drive so much. It may be partly childhood memories and partly the sheer beauty of the place. I think the elevation helps — something about the perspective of being so high and perhaps the rarefied air.

  2. As might be expected, Stephen King said it better than most of us. You really need quiet place of beauty these days.

  3. Weapons of war are not necessary in peaceful neighbourhoods.

  5. I love your mountain photos. The gun nuts will tell you that they can have their weapons because the constitution says they can. Makes no sense.

  6. It's been years (2012, I think) since I've been on the Skyline Drive. Where have the years gone? As for guns and the shooting total agreement with Stephen King. I an beyond belief that a young 18 year old who grew up a handful of miles from a community that suffered a mass shooting in 2009 (Binghamton, New York) was the shooter in Buffalo. Beyond belief. We are going backwards. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  7. These recent events have left me baffled, too, Linda.

  8. Skyline Drive looks beautiful, and a nice way to leave the craziness behind, at least for a while.

  9. All these horrifying events seem to repeat themselves over and over again don’t they? I wish there was some kind of gun legislation but many of these politicians don’t seem to be doing anything about it, and they and their propaganda machines are blaming everything under the sun except for their precious guns, and let’s not forget the NRA. Shaking head here. Skyline Drive is also one of my favorite places, it is so peaceful up there, and incredibly beautiful as shown in your photos. Soothing to the soul!

  12. King has a way with words. Events in the news do shatter the beauty. People are not entirely helpless: They can vote.

  13. He hit it on the head with those words! Dad wanted me to comment on this post because he and mom are planning a road trip and on their way back home are hoping to catch at least part of Skyline Drive. They feel the same way about our little stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway down here!
