On Thursday I went to an appointment in Burke, which I posted about. Afterward I went to nearby Burke Lake Park, although it was raining. The rain let up after I got there so I was able to take some pictures.
I hadn't been there in years but the lake area looks the same. I watched the Canada geese and other birds.
There is a sign on the concession stand saying that "Feeding ducks and geese is prohibited." I know that geese will overpopulate an area if they are fed frequently. This is a problem at our community lake.
A great blue heron showed up. It was watching for fish.
Beautiful sighting!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty lake and park. Love the goose and heron.
The swallows love to fly over the water catching the bugs as they fly. Lovely photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, Happy Sunday! Have a great new week! PS, thanks for all the past visits and comments on my blog.
All the signs in the world do nothing to prevent people from feeding birds. There seems to be some inner compulsion at work.
ReplyDeleteBelas fotografias.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom Domingo.

Nice lake to visit
ReplyDeleteTerrific outing...the lake is beautiful & over-flowing with serenity!! Great birds too
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead and thanks for taking time to link in at IRBB so we can visit!
I would love to see some rain. Feeding can create a dependency I suppose and the food is at times not as nutritious as what geese naturally eat in the wild.
ReplyDelete...people love to feed wild animals.
ReplyDeleteI never thought feeding geese would cause overpopulation, but I know a few beautiful places where there are tons of geese and lots of spots to avoid when walking through the area. Love the shots of the great blue heron. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely area to enjoy nature. I really like that last shot of the Heron.
ReplyDeleteAlthough people think they do right to feed the birds, it can lead to problems. For instance white bread is very bad for them. For us too!
ReplyDeleteThe shots of the heron particularly stand out.
ReplyDeleteNice shots! That looks like great park.
ReplyDeleteLove it
