Luray Random-osity.
The Good: Today we returned to Luray and walked a short distance on the Hawksbill Greenway south from Ruffner Plaza. I found this mural on the back fence of a lumber yard.
Monday Murals: Painted by artist Paul Quigg, the mural was sponsored by the Luray Tree and Beautification Committee. (See all my Hawksbill Greenway posts with more murals.)
The Random: Hawksbill Greenway is a two-mile long path that runs along Hawksbill Creek. It begins and ends in the countryside but passes under Main Street in the center of town.
The Fun: Young people were wading in the creek, cooling off on this hot day.
Hello, the greenway and creek looks nice. I love the beautiful mural. Have a happy day!
ReplyDelete...the mural goes on and on!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely area you live in! My granddaughter just went camping in your area, and really enjoyed it.

Beautiful huge mural Linda. Thanks for contributing
ReplyDeletewhat a cool mural .. very creative. ( ;
ReplyDeleteI hear the people who asked to have the fence built so they didn't have to look at the lumberyard, complaining that they'd lost their view of the mountains...and then paying for a beautiful mural to be painted on the fence. Well, it might have happened that way!
ReplyDeleteLoved all of your photographs and mosaics.
ReplyDeleteThat mural is huge!
All the best Jan
I zoomed in to look at the mural and it's a beautiful composition. The greenway and the creek must be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I thought the mural was part of the hillside. I love coming across murals that meld into the background.
ReplyDeleteI see an interesting story in your mosaic. A sense of sadness but not regret.
Linda - wouldn't it be wonderful if junk yards would be incentivized to paint murals on their fences? Thanks for sharing more of your local scenes with everyone at Mosaic Monday!
ReplyDeleteYes! They could even paint old cars on them!
DeleteThere's a lot of detail and history in the mural. What's the story of the young woman standing in front of the cemetery? Peaceful yet sad.

Actually it is a park with some markers in it. She is cold because she was swimming and is now waiting for her friends to come out of the water.
DeleteThat is a nice mural.
ReplyDeleteMy sincere apologies for visiting so late this week. I've had all kinds of trouble keeping my internet going, and now I'm playing catch up.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing mural. Most impressive how it hides the building and lumber, too.
