The View from Newdale School Road

Near Tenth Legion, Virginia.

Sometimes I like to turn off the main road and see what's along one or more of the country roads. This road in Rockingham County turned out to be delightful.

This little schoolhouse has a sign on the door saying New Dale School, 1874 - 1906. I found an article in the Daily News Record telling how it had deteriorated over the years but was restored by a family who bought the property.

  6. The cow must have been thinking "Now what is that strange lady up to?" Love the school house, which has an interesting architectural feature...I think. It looks as if the rain water is being captured in a cistern from the way the pipes are configured. I don't know of another building doing that besides in the Caribbean Islands.
