When I was up on Skyline Drive recently, I hoped to get some bird pictures for Wild Bird Wednesday. Unfortunately, the only birds that I got remotely close to were model birds in the Visitors Center at Dickey Ridge. I'm sharing three of them in hopes that I will see them in the wild and recognized them.First we have the eastern screech owl. They are only about 10 inches in height. Next is the ruffed grouse, who can beat his wings and sound like a motor!
He likes to eat chipmunks like the one in the last picture. At least the chipmunk is real! I wasn't able to get a closer picture because he scampered out of sight as soon as I stepped forward.

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing the exhibits. It has been so hot here I think all the birds are staying in deep shade! I had to go back into my archives to find a photo for Wild Bird Wednesday this week.
