The City Daily Photo Theme for August 1st is "Black." This is the darkest color, one we associate with the absence of light. I have six images on the theme, starting with the obvious: a night photo.
I have to share credit for that picture with my trail camera and the cat that made it click the shutter. (You can spot the cat's reflective eyes a third of the way into the photo.)
Today I tried to set up a photo with a black scarf, using myself as a model because, after all, I was available. The image I chose shows that black can convey a sense of mystery.
I took that with an iPad and added a canvas texture.
Next up, a black iron gate and a black wooden fence. Notice how the fence, although painted black, shows different tones depending on how the light hits it. In many spots the black looks gray, even silvery. One of the things an artist learns is that colors vary, even black.
Fences around the World. |
Creatures are often black, or called black by us because that's how we see them at a glance. Here we see a black vulture and a black swallowtail butterfly.
What can I say? Black is beautiful!
Love the first shot just perfect for the theme. Happy Weekend Diane
