I went to a crafts sale last month at Hearthstone School near Sperryville. I was surprised to see that a paved play area was covered with huge painted maps!
Similar maps are painted on the playground at our neighborhood's elementary school, and I've also seen them elsewhere. A company called "Peaceful Playgrounds" sells a stencil for the maps -- $200. I agree that it's a fabulous idea and teaching tool.
The View from Squirrel Ridge features thousands of views of the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding area. I post frequently so please visit often.

ReplyDeleteA map on the playground, very cool. Just think of the future adults who are avid travelers because they were inspired by that map.
