So far, it's been a good year for rabbits! We see them in our yard frequently, and we even have some baby rabbits.
I watched this guy hop up our back steps! He didn't stay there long though.
This morning I looked out the kitchen window and saw two baby bunnies, so I grabbed my camera.
They didn't see me.
Then I saw a flash of red color off to the left. I looked and saw a pileated woodpecker on the woodpile. He didn't see me either, so the sunlight must have been shining the right way. Actually there wasn't a lot of sunlight; a rain storm had left clouds behind. Anyway, I felt lucky to get more than one picture of the woodpecker. We don't see them very often here, although we saw them often when we lived in Bryce Resort.

Isn't he handsome? He's large too,
You can see more birds at The Bird D'Pot and Saturday Critters.
The Pileated leaves a thrill each time I see them.
ReplyDelete...isn't nature wonderful?
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! The bunnies are fun to watch. Happy Mother's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteWe also seem to have an overabundance of Cottontails here in Illinois. This morning I had one walk right up to me and there were three more out in the open in the same field.
ReplyDeleteGreat close pictures!
ReplyDeleteA lot of traffic in your yard! Lovely series and I made still not one photo from a woodpecker, only hear them...
ReplyDeletelol, I love the "hairstyle" of this woodpecker. Looks so cool. :)
ReplyDeleteHello, the bunnies are adorable! Awesome captures of the Pileated!
ReplyDeleteI am still running a little behind visiting my critter links! Thanks so much for linking up, have a great new week ahead!
What great yard creatures - I have been lucky enough to see some Pileated woodpeckers in the wild - what a bird!

Man on man....I am green with envy here. To have a pileated woodpecker so nearby. Dang. And I've been searching for one for years and yet to see any to photograph.
ReplyDeleteCute bunnies. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend...and hope you have a joyous week ahead!
We have those pileated woodpeckers up here too. I remember sitting by one once when it was taking a bit of recovery time after hitting a window above the front porch.
ReplyDeleteDelightful bunny and Woodie images shares~
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set of photographs.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Great shots especially of the large woodpecker. They are beautiful, but can be so destructive. We had one that did about $10,000 worth of damage to our cabin up in the mountains.
