They Look Monochromatic

...But these are color images.

City Daily Photo's theme day challenge for March is "Black and White in Color." Snow scenes can look that way but we only had a few inches of snow this winter, so I looked at my unused images from two years ago and found the first three shown here. (I always copy files from my camera to a folder for that month. I also create a folder for processed images for each month. I have a back-up drive so they are preserved chronologically there even after I get around to moving them or deleting them on my computer.)

These last three photos are from January of this year. We did have a couple inches of snow and I got some bird photos before it melted that same day. Juncos and chickadees are pretty much monochromatic birds, but they're cute! Canada geese are not very colorful either... not that you can tell when they are silhouetted against the sky.

  1. Nice - one of my plans for this winter is to get some pictures in the snow. Probably a little harder for me than you!

  2. Linja, In the winter it seems easy to capture images with the sense of B&W because of the gray landscape and cloudy conditions. You found some good examples in your archives. I like the angel statue in the snow. The light exposure offers a soft essence to the image which I like and those little chickadees are so cute. I love to see these guys in the winter! They often can be seen in our backyard and sometimes one will light on the windbell that hangs from the house eve outside the kitchen. Thanks for sharing and for linking up with me this week! :)

  3. I think the fourth photo of the bird is excellent and fits the theme very well. Winter scenes certainly lend themselves to B&W!

  6. I really enjoyed your black-and-white color photos. I was also happy to learn that I handle photos the same way you do, so I must be doing something right.

  9. The chickadee and angel are my favourites.

It's been a long while since I've seen that spammer around, though I think last time they were using a different name.
