We did an art tour in Clarke County this weekend which involved driving through pretty Virginia countryside. When I spied this stone church, I had to stop and take a picture. Salem Regular Baptist Church was built in 1810.
Yesterday morning was quite cloudy so this photo of a farm came out a bit dark. The crops in the foreground are saplings protected by tree tubes.
Another type of farm combines recreation with agriculture. I got Frank to slow the car so I could take snapshots of these characters advertising a "Fun Farm" near Berryville. It offers a corn maze, a pumpkin patch, animals, and play activities. These figures are dressed in the colors of the football team of Washington, DC, which is about 70 miles away.
Linda, such a wonderful church and barn in your beautiful neck of the woods! And what about those stocky football players. Thanks for the visit, please stop by again.
ReplyDeleteLooks like where I grew up down South.
ReplyDeleteI love driving around the Virginia countryside. You found some very cool finds, the church and the footballer and fan.
ReplyDeleteI like the cheerleader and football player at the farm!
ReplyDeleteThat stone church is beautiful. The football player is a nice find. Driving around you can see so many interesting things to photograph.
ReplyDeleteA very solid looking church with all those stones, and the shutters give it a nice colourful touch!
ReplyDeleteHello, the stone church is pretty. I like the cheerleader! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteLove the church!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I like the green shutters on that stone church--pretty! Those are cute football characters to advertise the Fun Farm.
ReplyDeleteThose are fun structures. I'm thinking the Washington Redskins [or is that now changed because of political incorrectness?]
ReplyDeleteSalem....neat church! But not Salem that is associated with the witch trials. :-)
Enjoyed driving along with you Linda.
The team hasn't changed their name yet. I think they will within the next year, since we no longer refer to the First Americans by their (supposed) skin color!
DeleteThat looks like a great drive to take...visiting from the barn collective...
ReplyDeleteI like the photo of the Church.
ReplyDeleteI also like those fun characters, a great way to advertise the Fun Farm Park.
All the best Jan
I love the look of that old stone.
ReplyDeleteI think those characters are great. Made me laugh!
