The Good: Today I took another mile and a half walk. I did not need an app to measure the distance because this path in Strasburg is marked with a sign every tenth of a mile.
There was a breeze so the air did not feel as warm as yesterday but it was still comfortable. The North Fork of the Shenandoah was bursting with water but it no longer looked muddy as it did a few days ago.

The Random: Today is
Rare Disease Day. I have a rare condition that is not a serious disease but rather an odd one. It's called
Holmes-Adie's Syndrome and the main symptom is that one eye has a pupil that does not contract in bright light. My other symptom is lack of reflexes in one leg. That doesn't bother me but the tonic pupil can be painful when light is intense.
The Fun: I often enjoy seeing murals but I saw one on Saturday that surprised and delighted me! This mural wraps around the building! It shows mountains in the background, quite appropriate for its location in Elkton, Virginia.
A nice looking walk and a nice looking mural! I (probably along with most people) have never heard of your medical condition - must be a real pain in bright light.

Does the tonic pupil harm your retina in really bright light?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't seem to do any real damage but of course I look away, squint, or seek shade. And I use a pilocarpine eyedrop to shrink it if I'm going out in the sun. I also wear sunglasses and keep a brimmed hat handy.
DeleteA very attractive mural. I like where you can walk, it looks so peaceful. That's too bad about the bright light. My wife doesn't have that condition but bright light brings on a migraine for her.
DeleteI like the mural. I've never heard of that condition before.
ReplyDeleteI would like my house to look like that
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great place to walk. Love the mural too!
ReplyDeleteI'd not heard about that condition before, so thanks for sharing. Do you need to wear dark glasses in bright-light? ... Oops I've just see your reply to Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI do like the murals you feature, but the walk looks heavenly.
All the best Jan
Subtle and beautiful. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteThat mural is clever. I have never seen go all the way around a building like that before!
ReplyDeleteThe bicycle rider has some looong hair!
