Bam! Something hit the window! Oh, no! Not another poor bird! I looked out and saw him lift himself off his side into a sitting position and bring his wing into place. Then he just sat there, stunned.
He didn't move. Five minutes passed and he appeared to be frozen in place. I found a box and a small blanket. He did not stir as I approached him. I gently put the baby blanket over him and lifted him into the box. He moved his eyes but stayed still.
It was chilly outside and I checked on him through the window several times. He didn't budge. After twenty minutes passed, I started to worry about the vultures flying overhead. They are often there and did not seem to see him, but I thought he might be safer under the covered area of the deck. I stepped outside to see about moving the box. Flap flap! He saw me and flew up into a tree. Hooray! He had recovered from the shock and was perched on a branch.
Godspeed, little bird! It was a privilege to meet you.

A good ending to an unfortunate incident. Hurray!
ReplyDeleteHello, your Robin is so cute. I am glad there was a happy ending. Happy New Year to you and your family. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, happy ending!!! It's a shame that they so often fly into the glass panes. It's good to know it was just stunned and recovered. Loved the images. Thanks for sharing this story today with us all at I'd Rather B Birdin'
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing to give them shelter after they do that- they need the time to come back to their senses.
ReplyDeleteGood fortune, little birdie!
ReplyDeleteSometimes they fly into the downstairs sliding doors when they get startled from the feeder. Usually it's not so bad, but one poor Mrs. Downy hit it so hard she never moved again.

Poor bird! Glad he recovered.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! Glad he recovered...I bet your blanket helped a lot.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate it when birds hit the window like that. I'm glad this one was able to recover and fly away.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you kept him safe until he could fly away. Maybe you should refuse to clean your windows. A good excuse, at any rate...
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photo's of this robin, and pleased to read all ended well.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
