Two weeks ago we took advantage of a historical tour at Dearmont Hall in White Post, Virginia. The final stop on the tour was this marker on a hill for a Revolutionary War officer.
"Here lies the body of Major Lawrence Butler who departed this life on the 1st May 1811 in the 56th year of his age..."We learned that Major Butler had owned and lived on the property before the current home was built, and that the marker was probably not in it's original location. The marker is in excellent condition.
