Signs at Blandy Farm

"The Commonwealth's Public Garden"

Blandy Experimental Farm was bequeathed to the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1926 with the purpose of educating students in farming. It's managed by the University of Virginia and was designated the State Arboretum in 1986.

It's in Clarke County not very far from us so we stop by every now and then to take a walk, maybe picnic, or just drive through and take some pictures.

"Virginia's Landscape Then and Now"
There are several interpretative signs. This one discusses geology and describes the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Shenandoah Valley and grasslands restoration.

  4. A great concept. We have something similar right here in the heart of the city.

  5. Tom, that would be the same Graham Blandy, as there is a significant collection of boxwood here.

  7. What a beautiful place to take a walk. And, you get to scribble on the chalkboard. I like that. I also like that you're warned about hornets!
