In Strasburg, Virginia
Some years ago I took a class in Photojournalism at NOVA and the teacher suggested that I base my portfolio on man-made features in the natural environment because I was often photographing things like parks. I was reminded of that when I saw these pictures.
Although I love nature and wilderness landscapes, I think others photograph them better than I do. I don't have the patience or stamina of Ansel Adams, who lugged a heavy tripod and camera through wild areas and set them up before dawn, waiting hours for the perfect light to illuminate a scene. I felt exhausted just reading his books! So something a little more people-friendly works for me, and the small towns and rural areas of Virginia are full of lovely scenes like gardens with walls or fields with barns and fences.

These flowers are lovely. The one of the pink flower by the seat in the second photo is especially appealing.

The flowers are lovely, wherever you found them!! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Linda. Sometimes we have to take the light as it is and make the best of it. Patience might be a virtue but life moves on....:)
ReplyDeleteI especially like the last shot.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about lugging a tripod. I prefer a little point-and-shoot myself!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Linda! I especially like that first one.
ReplyDeleteSmall World---when we were in the Shenandoah area in April, we stayed at the Strasburg Hotel... Loved that old hotel and their meals were fantastic. There are many terrific antiques in there. Hope you have been in there to check it out...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
