I'm not sure whether the colours make it more sinister or more friendly! Like the wings of a dragon fly perhaps?

The dragon looks more asian to me in design than western, even before your photo shop fun.

I think St. George could handle a Chinese dragon as well as a western one. You did a great job with the gradient.
