Loving Life: Geese by the Lake

The February theme at City Daily Photo is Loving Life. I decided to use our local geese as models because they seem to really enjoy themselves. We have various colors of geese in shades of gray and white, including Canada Geese, the expert fliers in the crowd.

Our subdivision has a lake at the entrance. and I can see the lake from our house so I get plenty of goose photos.

I was fortunate to see a flock of Canada Geese in flight as I drove home yesterday. I only had my point-and-shoot camera with me but that may have been an advantage because it focuses more quickly than my Nikon with the zoom lens. I cropped these final two pictures so you could get a closer look at the geese with their landing gear extended.

  3. Whats not to love about being a goose (Thanksgiving being over!) - you get to mess about at the pond all day - and fly off when you feel like it. Sounds good to me!

  6. We don't get the white or grey geese up here, though I think they turn up in the Great Lakes during the summer.
