Three More Late Summer Randoms

The Good: I picked up this handcrafted pitcher at the Yard Crawl in August. It was locally made in Strasburg, which has a long history of pottery-making.

The Random:  I went to another foot doctor for a second opinion as to whether I should have surgery for a bone spur. (I wrote about it previously, item 2.) She said it would make me much more comfortable so I guess I'll do it.  The pain has been much less since I started spraying "magnesium oil" on it, but after walking about ten minutes it feels heavy and tired.

In the meantime much of my photography has been done from the car because I'm not walking long distances. I try to remember that (1) my point and shoot doesn't see exactly what I see so I have to hold the camera up enough to keep the window frame out of the picture, (2) shoot through an open side window when possible because the windshield is tinted, and (3) hold the camera level to avoid weird-looking angles.

Here's a drive-by picture of a barn near Front Royal for The Barn Collective.

The Fun: I saw this RV up on Skyline Drive. I think it would be fun to stay up there in an RV. I've done tent camping before but I think it might be too difficult in my present condition.

The doggy in the window is a painting!

  1. How much is that doggy in the window .... lol, can't get that song out of my head now! I hope the surgery helps your foot pain...we are just now near the end of a short roadtrip (short for us anyway) and I've done my share of drive by photos ...hope even one or two of them turn out as good as yours here did!

  6. Sorry to hear about your foot. I had bunion surgery nearly two years ago. It was a long recovery but I'm very happy with the results. I'm back to hiking and running again. Good luck with your surgery - I hope it goes as well as mine!
