At the Fish Cultural Station

After we hiked at Elizabeth Furnace last week, we made a brief stop at the Virginia fish hatchery in Waterlick. It turned out the ponds were empty because the fish-raising is done for the season.

The sign out front says "Fish Cultural Station" although the historical marker on Strasburg Road says State Fish Hatchery.  I surmised that the fish receive culture so that they will thrive in schools!

The Boyles family has now returned to Washington state but I still have another group of photos to post from their visit. Meanwhile it seems too quiet here! They really know how to have fun as a family.

  1. We have a small business like this close to our mountain cottage, and it's always interesting to observe. I invite you to share your post at my new photo meme that I have started just now on my blog. Link is down below. Thanks!
